The Altha Diner
Resilient, Rebuilt, and Ready for You
Like a phoenix rising from the ashes,
a local favorite opens a brand-new chapter.
For the community of Altha and Calhoun County, the Altha Diner has never been just a place to grab a bite—it’s the beating heart of the town. It’s where neighbors become family over hot coffee, where morning news is shared across the counter, and where co-owners Jeff Clark and Dianne Mongiello, along with their dedicated team, have poured their hearts into serving delicious home-cooked breakfasts, lunches, and dinners for years.
When a devastating kitchen fire struck on the day after Thanksgiving, it tested the strength of our community. The heartwrenching event destroyed the kitchen and filled the space with smoke damage, leaving a quiet void where laughter and the sizzle of the griddle used to fill the air.
But true community institutions don't fade quietly. Supported by the overwhelming love, encouragement, and helping hands of local friends, emergency crews, and neighbors, the spirit of the Diner remained unbroken. Like a phoenix rising from the ashes, we rolled up our sleeves and set out to rebuild better than ever.
Today, the kitchen is brand new, the coffee is fresh, and the warm, welcoming atmosphere you know and love is stronger than ever. Whether you’re stopping in for your regular breakfast routine, gathering with family for an easy weeknight dinner, or just looking for a friendly face behind the counter, our doors are open and ready to welcome you home.
Come hungry, bring your family, and celebrate community, resilience, and great food with us at the Altha Diner!
